If Pinterest were a place, I would live there!

I don't know how many of you know about or participate on Pinterest. Amazingly I still meet people who have never heard of it. I personally can't remember my life before it. In the old days I had a four drawer filing cabinet filled with craft, sewing, home decorating and fashion articles I had either torn out of magazines or printed off line. Anytime I wanted to reference something I had to go searching in my big ole file cabinet to find it. Now with Pinterest all I have to do is virtually PIN an idea on my board. I can also send all my friends who call for party ideas or recipes to my Pinterest page where all my lovely boards are lined up just waiting to be added to. Sometimes I just want to stand back and sigh at all the crafty loveliness just waiting to be accessed on my almost 100 boards. WOW. Whoever thought of Pinterest, I want to hug your neck. I am addicted (as are many people) to pinning new ideas to my boards.

Little Yellow Table

This table was all sad and brown but I LOVED the shape and the detail so I decided to try my hand at GLAZING. Here's what she looked like BEFORE.

First I primed it using Zinsser Cover Stain Primer and a brush. Although on hindsight I believe I would have sprayed the primer.

Then I gave it about 4 coats of yellow spray paint. Looks pretty snazzy just like this doesn't it? But I knew it needed a little something more..........

So I got out the glaze, crossed my fingers and went to work. Viola! A little piece of awesomeness that didn't cost a thing and brightens up my den considerably. Now I'm on the hunt for more of these little beauties.............

Thrift Store Bed--From Trash to Treasure

I bought this headboard at a local thrift store for $15.00. I wasn't crazy about the wood grain, but I loved the detail in the panels. I also knew it would look awesome painted.

Because the panels were a plastic material, I primed it with Zinsser Cover Stain Primer (you can see the can in the pic above). Then I used two coats of an oil based white semi gloss. My husband actually got out the sprayer and sprayed the semi-gloss, which I highly recommend on a piece with details, or nooks and crannies, like this headboard. If you don't have a paint sprayer, you could always use spray paint in cans.

Once the paint was finished we just bought a full size bed rail ($37.00) and attached it using screws. Since the bed is for my 14 year old daughters room, I may add her initials to each panel. I was very happy with the way this project turned out. More importantly, my daughter loves it and we stayed within our budget.

Here's how I made a shamrock St. Patrick's Day banner .........
First I bought a pack of pre-cut foam shamrocks, some metallic gold ribbon and some felt letters. You could also just use stickers if you have any that will do.
Once you have your shamrocks and ribbon, sew the shamrocks to the ribbon alternating colors and leaving about an inch in between. Then glue your L-U-C-K-Y letters on every other one. You can add additional ribbon to the ends if you want to dress it up.
VIOLA. A SUPER cute St. Patty's Day Decoration. Make a couple and drape them everywhere.
